Reyna Ovando

Artist Mentor in Residence

Reyna was born in Mexico City and was brought to the United States at the age of one.  They have been living in Los Angeles for 18 years now, living in between Downtown and MacArthur Park. They have witnessed the neighborhood change throughout their childhood and young adult life. Reyna started attending HOLA as a student in 2016. By joining the art program, they were able to realize that they wanted to pursue a career in art. Having realized that art was their passion, Reyna is now planning on attending Art Center College of Design to study animation. While Reyna continues to refine their artistic abilities, they are attending Pasadena City College for general education as well as Art Center at Night classes for art technique and skill building. Reyna currently works as our Artist-Mentor-in-Residence at HOLA, as well as a Gallery Facilitator at LACMA. Reyna was also selected to receive a full scholarship to attend the Summer 2018 session at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, which is their first time traveling outside of LA.
