Federico is a self-described “fabricator, artist and physical problem solver.” He has a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from the Universidad de Los Andes and an employment background as an electrician and solar fabricator and installer. In addition to teaching at HOLA, he is an independent artist and illustrator. Federico began as a volunteer at HOLA in 2015, developing and teaching the Make it Fly class in which HOLA youth made and flew their own radio-controlled airplanes.
Federico has a wide range of maker skills including sewing, woodworking, metalworking, digital fabrication, electronics and construction. His experience includes both professional and informal environments. From training construction workers in tool use and safety, to tinkering with homemade machines at the shop, Federico tries to bridge the maker spirit with art by creating images that have a hand-made feeling and include moving parts and mixed materials like wood, cardboard and fabric.
