YOLA at HOLA Music Instructor
Ryan Baird graduated summa cum laude from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance. He then earned a Master of Music and a Graduate Certificate in Double Bass Performance from the University of Southern California (USC). Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at USC, majoring in Double Bass Performance and Musicology, and minoring in Arts Leadership and Viola da Gamba Performance.
A student of excellent bass performers and music teachers, Ryan is passionate about inspiring bassists of all ages to strive for technical mastery in order to fully express their musical artistry. In addition to teaching private lessons, Ryan is the minor field/non-major bass lessons teacher at USC. He is the double bass teaching artist for YOLA at HOLA and can also be seen leading bass sectionals in school programs around Los Angeles.
Ryan performs as a member of the Santa Barbara Symphony, Delirium Musicum Chamber Ensemble, and is principal bass for the Downey Symphony. He has played with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Phoenix Symphony, Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, and the USC Baroque Sinfonia.
