Alyshia is a first generation college graduate born and raised in Southern California with her B.A. in Ethnicity, Race, and First Nations and M.A. in Sociology, both from Arizona State University. She has a deep personal and civic commitment to equity for every community, which led her to the non-profit sector.
Alyshia joins HOLA after organizing in Arizona for the past 5 years. Her experience as a Campaign Coordinator for OSPIRG, Fellow for the Arizona Democratic Party, Training Manager for the ASU Foundation, Obama Foundation Pilot Trainer, and Civic Engagement Director for OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates has put her at the center of the policy process, where she has worked effectively with government officials and other community groups to enact positive social change and promote visibility for underserved communities.
Most recently, Alyshia served at the Arizona Commission for Post-secondary Education where she focused on youth development, educational access, and college financial assistance for Title 1 high school students. Alyshia is a firm believer in youth as powerful actors in social progress. She ensures that her work fosters an environment where diverse communities are empowered to enact positive social change and shape their collective futures.
