Parent and Community Outreach Director
Veronica’s relationship with HOLA started in the summer of 2007, when she was hired as the Grants Assistant. During her time in this position, Veronica had the opportunity to get to know many of HOLA’s families. Her ability to relate well to the parents, her familiarity with the needs of HOLA’s families and her knowledge of community resources helped her become HOLA’s Parent & Community Resource Director in January 2010. Originally from Puerto Rico, Veronica graduated from the Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand) and moved to Los Angeles in the late 1980’s. Veronica brings more than 25 years of experience working with Los Angeles-based community-based organizations, including the Alzheimer’s Greater Los Angeles, AIDS Project Los Angeles, L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, Hollywood Community Housing Corporation, Pasadena Senior Center and Project Angel Food. Her extensive non profit experience includes developing & implementing programs, and, fundraising for health, housing, educational and supportive social services targeted towards under-served communities.
In her spare time, Veronica volunteers as a mentor for LGBTQ youth and college-bound high school seniors. Aside from public service, her other passions include her family, gardening, playing the piano and reading.
