Lorena Pineda


SmartStart Program Coordinator

Lorena is an educator and aspiring doctor. She received a B.S in Biology from UC Riverside. After graduation, Lorena joined the Youth Policy Institute (YPI) as an AmeriCorps VISTA member, providing direct service tutoring to high school students in math in the San Fernando Valley. Lorena joined HOLA in August 2016 as the AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer Coordinator, where she helped  organized volunteer events and recruit volunteers for HOLA’s various programs. Lorena now serves as the SmartStart Program Coordinator where she combines her passion for education with her love of science. Lorena currently offers SmartStart students the opportunity to learn more about the diverse wonders of science ranging from the human body to ecosystems. Her goal is to foster students' interest in science so that they can go on and pursue STEM careers. When Lorena is not at HOLA, you can find her checking out local coffee shops.
