Senior Program Director

Loren has served HOLA since 2001 in various capacities - as Director of our Daytime Bridges Program (when LAUSD ran on a multi-track calendar), Director of Arts & Academic Programs, and for the past few years as Director of Leadership and Summer Programs. Loren is also Senior Program Director, and is responsible for on-boarding and training all new Directors and Coordinators. Loren is widely respected and sought after as a trainer, and has been contracted by the Junior League of Los Angeles, Bard College Longy School of Music, Los Angeles Leadership Academy, YOLA at LACHSA, Constitutional Rights Foundation, and others, to conduct workshops on leadership, and youth empowerment. Loren has co-presented at the Association for Experiential Educators annual conference, and the World Conference on Curriculum and Instruction, and represented HOLA at the National Afterschool Association conference. As a Lead Trainer for Play for Peace International, Loren was honored with their Michael Terrien Service Award in 2016. Loren was also recently selected by the Center for Council to join their first cohort in the Trainer Leadership Initiative, and is looking forward to certification as an Affiliated Trainer with them. Loren is very proud of the work he does with Center for Council, especially the training he participated in at the Deuel Vocational Institution (men’s penitentiary), as part of their Inmate Council Program. Loren’s background is in Theater, and he was Artistic Director of the Zoo District Theater Company, receiving numerous awards for his acting and directing. Graduate work at Pacific Oaks College in Human Development, with an emphasis in Adolescence.
