Jennifer Haren

YOLA at HOLA & Music Director

Ms. Haren has been involved in music nearly all her life: as a performer, educator, and conductor.  She is especially excited to be the new Director of Music at HOLA, and return to Los Angeles!  Ms. Haren was previously a vocal and primary music teacher in the Irvine Unified School District.  Prior to her time in Irvine, Ms. Haren was the founding choral and musicianship specialist of the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (YOLA at LACHSA).

She also taught students with Education Through Music-Los Angeles for over five years, a nonprofit organization that brings music back to elementary schools in need.  In addition to teaching, Ms. Haren continues to sing professionally and will perform at Carnegie Hall with the City Of Angels Concert Choir in the Spring of 2018.  Ms. Haren received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in vocal performance from California State University, Northridge.  She is also a product of the Longy School of Music at Bard College’s Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program, which partners with HOLA to educate new generations of teachers in Los Angeles.
