TEACHING ARTIST - DRAWING
Originally from Vermont, Jeff was raised in Japan and upstate New York. His arts education has been a blend of classic atelier training and theory driven, avant-garde studies. On the classical side, he was taught to draw from plaster casts of Roman statuary while living in Spain as a Rotary Exchange Student. He continued life drawing in a self-directed course under David Hardy at the Atelier of Classical Realism in Oakland, CA. His avant-garde studies include a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from UC Berkeley, a Master of Fine Arts from the Slade School Of Art in London, and an artist residency with the Athens School Of Fine Art in Greece. His current studio practice revolves around crafting furniture by hand using antique, Japanese woodworking tools.
