Ben Ede, Music

Ben Ede is a performer and educator in the LA area. During the day, he teaches music at Sequoyah High School, an independent school in Pasadena dedicated to social justice and experiential learning. Here at HOLA he is a member of the Jazz faculty at HOLA Music Studios where he directs Jazz Band B and teaches private lessons for guitar, bass, and drums. He is also the founder and former music coordinator of Kid City Hope Place, a nonprofit after-school program dedicated to fostering youth leadership in low income communities.

Ben and his guitar “Jessie” perform regularly with The Wiseguys, a Vegas-style big band led by the Mayor of Montebello, the Pay It Forward Band, an organization dedicated to using music to effect changes in the nursing home system, and every Sunday as lead guitarist for Compton Community Baptist Church in addition to freelance work and private lessons.

Ben holds bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy and Jazz Performance from Cal State, Los Angeles and is currently pursuing an MA in Teaching from the Longy School of Music.
