Genaro Trejo

Chief Operating Officer

Genaro Trejo, a bi-lingual native of East Los Angeles, is HOLA’s Chief Operating Officer. He has 15 years experience in business building and in entrepreneurship, as well as a life-long commitment to community service.

While still an undergraduate at UCLA (BA,’95) Genaro was asked by then-LA County Supervisor Gloria Molina, to leave school temporarily to join her staff and work on legislative, economic development, and transportation issues. His political participation would continue at the national level where he worked in the CEO’s office of the 1996 Democratic National Convention while completing his Masters Degree in Public Policy at The University of Chicago (MPP, ’97) as an Irving B. Harris Fellow. He also held logistics positions at the 1996 Summit of the Eight (G20 Summit) in Denver and the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston.

Genaro began his business career as a telecommunications management consultant providing strategy and competitive analysis to Motorola’s Iridium Satellite system in South and Central America as well as to competitive local exchange carriers throughout the United States seeking early stage investment. Genaro’s experience internationally eventually led to his work as investor and entrepreneur, often representing interests of several high net worth individuals and governmental institutions in venture capital and private equity investments in the US, Latin America, and Asia.

In 2007, Genaro co-founded and served as CFO (then CEO) of National Disclosure Authority (NDA), a hazard disclosure technology company serving the state of California, that led an otherwise paper-intensive industry toward paperless transactions. NDA also had a focus on decreasing the carbon imprint and worked with several civic organizations including TreePeople, in planting trees throughout Southern California.

Genaro is active in community service and civic matters. As co-founder and current director of the San Gabriel Valley Civic Alliance, he helped create a bi-partisan platform for business and civic leaders to advocate on issues ranging from water rights to educational measures. In his local community, Genaro has served on the Board of Hill and Dale Educational Center, and has served as Co-Chair of the Parent Council at Crossroads School for the Arts and Sciences.
