the mitchel d. moore

honoring the legacy of mitchel d. moore

In 1989, HOLA's founder Mitchel Moore began changing the lives of struggling children with little more than a basketball and space in a dilapidated gym.

Over the years his legacy has grown, and this summer, HOLA will take the pivotal step of opening its very first flagship building, a brand new Arts & Recreation Center. This new, 25,000 square foot headquarters will increase HOLA’s capacity to help underserved kids by 74%, reaching 4,000 young people annually by 2020. It will be the home of  world-renowned YOLA at HOLA youth orchestra program in partnership with the LA Philharmonic. Big bands, rock bands, musical ensembles of all types, and numerous other arts and enrichment activities will fill its custom-designed rooms and collaborative work spaces. The building's signature entrance will feature the Founder's Room in honor of Mitchel Moore, where naming opportunities are available for our generous donors.

As you know, when you're building anything brand new, there are still some things we will need to truly make it a special home. If you'd like to support our public/private project and help more kids and families living in the heart of our city, you can buy a heart in the Founders Room in honor of Mitch. Each donor heart in the Founder's Room will be designed by an HOLA youth with your name. Each donor will receive a thank you card wit ha photograph of their heart and the student who designed it. There are $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000 hearts available and multi-year payment plans are available by clicking the donate now button below! Help us cross the finish line; help us to give every child a chance to succeed!
