HOLA Receives $100,000 From The S. Mark Taper Foundation

Heart of Los Angeles is honored and excited to announce that we have received a generous $100,000 grant from the S. Mark Taper Foundation in support of our general operations. This award will contribute greatly to HOLA’s mission to provide underserved youth with free, exceptional programs in academics, arts, and athletics within a nurturing environment, empowering them to develop their potential, pursue their education, and strengthen their communities.

“At a time when quality and quantity of arts, counseling services, and physical education have been severely diminished in too many of our public schools, investments in places like HOLA give kids attending public schools a chance to be successful. Thanks to the S. Mark Taper Foundation, Heart of Los Angeles is able to continue to provide health and wellness, orchestras, big bands, rock bands, counseling support, and over 30 art classes weekly, giving thousands of kids who attend over 80 different feeder schools, free afters school programs and wraparound services. This investment means that the future of these kids, their families and neighborhoods can be stronger now and in the future.”

-Tony Brown, Heart of Los Angeles CEO
