Gustavo Dudamel visits YOLA at HOLA

On Saturday, October 13, Gustavo Dudamel made a two-year anniversary visit to YOLA at HOLA. During his visit, he observed the youngest members of the program, the paper violin students and then the older students were thrilled when the maestro led rehearsals with both YOLA at HOLA’s advanced wind ensemble and full orchestra. The young musicians worked tirelessly to prepare for Gustavo's visit and the results were spectacular. Gustavo was very pleased with the progress that the students had made since his first visit in the fall of 2010.

YOLA at HOLA is a full, cost-sharing partnership with the LA Philharmonic and is directly inspired by Gustavo’s formative experience with Venezuela’s youth orchestra movement, “El Sistema.” The students in YOLA at HOLA spend over 15 hours each week in rehearsals and classes where they learn musicianship, composition, improvisation and music history.
