HOLA has recently entered into a new collaboration with the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus (LACC), considered one of the nation’s leading children’s choirs. The mission of LACC is to educate, develop and inspire musically talented children to attain the highest level of choral artistry. The goal of this collaboration is to expand and enhance HOLA’s choral offerings, create exchange, performance and cross educational opportunities including the addition of a new LACC “First Experiences” choral class for our youngest participants.
HOLA now has two children’s choirs and a Performance Ensemble that serve more than 30 elementary and middle school youth. The participants in the choirs learn the fundamentals of solfege, sight reading, melody and harmony. The members of the Performance Group are more advanced students, focusing on ensemble work and studying music theory and composition.
This is such an exciting partnership and indeed a blessing for youth living in LA's inner city areas who will now be able to experience the highest quality of choral training too. "This level of choral instruction and collaboration with the Los Angeles Children's Chorus will open doors for choristers at the higher levels of music education. It is our goal that from this, students will be prepared and able to receive choral scholarships in some of the leading colleges and universities around the country," says Tony Brown, HOLA's Executive Director.
