On Thursday June 25th at 6pm, HOLA held its annual graduation ceremony where our High School Seniors made one last appearance in front of the HOLA community before heading off to college. They are now our newest members of HOLA’s Alumni Group and now represent 19 schools across the nation including UC Berkeley, Boston University, UCLA, and the University of Wisconsin. We are proud to say that many of our High School graduates will be attending a 4 year College or University and some will be attending a 2 year college. In addition, all of our graduates have committed to continue being a prominent part of our HOLA community. Way to Go!
In addition to the hard work it entails for applying to colleges and awaiting acceptances, our students also participated in a 3 month long scholarship mentoring program in which the students searched and applied for scholarships with a volunteer mentor. All of the students applied for HOLA’s first scholarship, made possible by California’s College Access Foundation. HOLA is honored to be able to offer our students with some assistance in order to attend their desired schools. This year, because of the College Access Foundation, HOLA was able to offer 22 students scholarships ranging from $1500-$5000!
We are very excited to see what these students will offer to their college or university. We have no doubt in our minds that they will return to HOLA with the valuable life experiences they gain in college. Congratulations and Good Luck class of 2009!
